SHAC's Vision, Mission, and Objectives
Vision: The Holland ISD SHAC envisions healthy lifestyles and education for all staff, students, and families.
Mission: The mission of the Holland ISD SHAC is to support a healthy school community and help students graduate with the knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Objectives: To partner with the district and community to support health and academic achievement. This will be implemented by:
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate partnerships
- Providing health education for the mind and body to facilitate healthy lifestyle choices and activities
- Open communication
- Embracing the values of our community
- Promoting healthy school nutrition
- Promoting physical activity
Public Statement
Holland ISD SHAC members met two times in the preceding school year. This met the requirement under our District of Innovation Plan.
Holland ISD has adopted policies to ensure that elementary school, middle school and high school students engage in at least the amount and level of physical activity required by Education Code 28.002(I) [see EHAB and EHAC)
Holland ISD has adopted, and is enforcing, policies to ensure compliance with TEA's vending machine and food service guidelines for restricting students access to vending machines
Holland ISD has adopted and is enforcing policies/procedures that prescribe penalties for the use of e-cigarettes, as defined by Education Code 38.006, and tobacco products by students and others on school campuses or at school-sponsored or school-related activities [see DH and GKA]
Parents can request in writing for their child's physical fitness assessment results at the end of the school year
Holland ISD employs two registered nurses. They serve all three campuses.
Holland ISD employs a high school counselor and partners with Impact Counseling to provide our district with a counselor at a minimum of one time a week.
